BI Trends for 2011
Updated · Jan 03, 2011
New data from Forrester Research indicates that the enterprise business intelligence market is maturing. The firm's “BI Maturity in the Enterprise: 2010 Update” found that fewer organizations are centralizing BI, with 43 percent employing agile BI and BI self-service, 38 percent using centralization and consolidation, and 35 percent employing pervasive BI, reports Information Management.
James Kobielus, an analyst at Forrester Research, expects the move toward self-service BI to gather further momentum in 2011. IBM and SAP are among the numerous vendors already offering tools to place BI capabilities in the hands of nontechnical users, says Computerworld. According to Kobielus, SaaS BI and real-time analytics are also expected to take hold this year and Hadoop and other open source BI offerings will receive continued interest from enterprises.
