Dell Services Adds New Enterprise Mobility Partners
Updated · May 08, 2014
Enterprise adoption of mobility appears strong, judging from results of a Good Techology survey that found a 54 percent growth in companies' use of mobile apps in the fourth quarter of 2013. So it's not surprising that a growing number of vendors are offering solutions that aim to provide solutions and strategic support for mobile initiatives.
The latest to do so is Dell Services, which today announced new partnerships with Apperian, which provides a platform for securing and managing enterprise mobile apps, and Kony, provider of a cloud-based mobile application development platform. According to Dell, these partner capabilities complement its existing enterprise mobility management (EMM) offerings with solutions for development, deployment and management of enterprise mobile apps.
The Apperian and Kony offerings are available through Dell’s Business Innovation Services portfolio, which provides digital solutions to customers in the form of mobility, social media, cloud and analytics.
Apperian’s platform allows enterprises to secure, deploy and manage mobile applications through an easy-to-use console, enabling employees to access mobile applications through enterprise branded “app stores,” whether on corporate owned or personal devices. These capabilities allow Dell Services to introduce mobile apps leveraging Apperian’s intuitive user experience, ensuring high levels of user adoption and return on investment.
Dell will work with Kony to deliver mobile applications based on the Kony Experience Platform: an end-to-end, integrated, cloud-based platform to support an application software development lifecycle (SDLC) that help enterprises define, design, build, test, deploy and manage multi-channel app experiences. With Kony, developers can build native, hybrid and Web apps for phones, tablets and desktop with a single code base and rapidly deploy to the cloud.
“We have seen first-hand how mobility drives better performance –- reacting more quickly, collaborating seamlessly and getting more work done in more places. However, how these companies decide to embrace mobility can be the difference between growth and falling behind more agile competitors. Providing the necessary tools to solve challenges from the endpoint to the backend infrastructure is key to Dell’s strategy of helping our customers achieve long-term business growth and transformation,” said Suresh Vaswani, president of Services, Dell, in a statement.
Dell is not the only company looking to capitalize on growing enterprise interest in mobility. CDW last month introduced an App Marketplace, part of its Total Mobility Management program, which it bills as “a complete approach to acquiring, managing and integrating mobility into your existing infrastructure.”
