Ikimbo, Teleglobe Launch Partnership
Updated · Mar 13, 2002
Teleglobe Communications Corp. and Ikimbo are teaming to jointly market Ikimbo's communication software platform and BCE Teleglobe's global network infrastructure and advanced services to enterprise customers. A BCE Teleglobe VPN customer, for example, could utilize the Ikimbo platform to initiate and conduct real-time communications with colleagues around the world, from the desktop or from a hand-held mobile device.
The Reston, Va.-based Ikimbo is a software solutions company, accelerating communication across the enterprise and through the extended enterprise of suppliers, partners, and customers. The Ikimbo messaging platform combines advanced real-time communication services with an extensible array of applications and information sources.
The partnership reflects the close linkage between enterprise customers' communications infrastructure and the complex software applications that support the sharing of information between the enterprise, its customers, suppliers and partners.
“Today's companies have already spent billions of dollars on complex application systems and are now looking to leverage that investment,” said Edwin Miller, Ikimbo's president and chief executive officer. “BCE Teleglobe's state-of-the-art IP network with advanced services complements Ikimbo's real-time communications of all kinds — person-to-person, group-to-group and person-to-machine — and enables an organization to gather, manage and evaluate its information and make effective and timely decisions that improve performance.”
BCE Teleglobe is a global service provider whose GlobeSystem network is one of the world's most extensive Internet and data networks of fiber optic cable and satellite links.
“We see Ikimbo's value-added applications and services as a great resource for helping our global base of customers realize the potential of their existing network and software infrastructure investments,” said BCE Teleglobe's Gregory Ewert, vice president of data services. “Together, we bring a much greater capability for enterprise customers to solve business problems by increasing their operational efficiency, improving responsiveness to customers, strengthening collaboration among employees or partners and more closely integrating their value chain.”
