NetSuite Says Cloud ERP Is Ready for Enterprises
Updated · May 12, 2011
Looking to establish itself as a market leader in cloud ERP solutions for enterprises, NetSuite (NYSE: N) this week unveiled NetSuite Unlimited, the company's online business suite designed to meet the financial and ERP software needs of the biggest and fastest-growing enterprise-class companies.
NetSuite Unlimited was officially unveiled at SuiteWorld, the company's first annual customer event. In a move that brings NetSuite directly into competition with Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) for the enterprise cloud customer, the company also detailed a number of new integration partnerships to increase functionality and add social media applications to its ERP suite.
“There is no question that the cloud is big business, and big business needs the cloud,” said Zach Nelson, NetSuite CEO. “NetSuite Unlimited combines the agility and flexibility of the cloud enjoyed by mid-size businesses with the power of traditional large enterprise systems, allowing the world's largest companies to be more agile and innovative.”
Netsuite's ERP cloud product and partnerships offer a complete enterprise cloud ERP strategy for companies looking to move away from the typical “pains” of on-premise software such as maintenance costs, delayed rollouts and version lock, the company said.
NetSuite Unlimited removes the limits around the number of users, subsidiaries, add-on modules and third party SuiteApps so global businesses can grow, expand and optimize operations, the company said. According to the company's release statement, NetSuite Unlimited enables worldwide businesses to deploy and fully consolidate business entities in as little as three weeks.
Oracle, Yammer and Google Boost Netsuite's ERP Cloud
At SuiteWorld, NetSuite also announced that it is working with Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) to leverage the Oracle Exadata Database Machine for NetSuite's cloud software solutions. According to the company, NetSuite's cloud offerings powered by Oracle's Exadata will provide enterprise-class functionality to ensure maximum agility and access to the database platforms for all NetSuite customers.
And a new partnership between NetSuite and Yammer will integrate enterprise social networking into the new cloud ERP suite to allow mission-critical data to be socialized within the enterprise.
The new offering brings together NetSuite's new SuiteSocial app, which allows users to automatically ‘socialize' business data for use with social networking and collaboration applications, with Yammer's Activity Streams. The NetSuite SuiteSocial content is integrated and presented to Yammer users as activity stories in Yammer's new Activity Streams, which are intended to aggregate activity stories across a wide variety of enterprise applications.
By importing content from NetSuite, Yammer Activity Streams can give users an instant snapshot of NetSuite activity inside Yammer, where they can easily share and discuss it with colleagues.
“Yammer is a secure social layer that can make all enterprise applications more collaborative and engaging,” said David Sacks, founder and CEO of Yammer. “With the NetSuite integration, we'll be able to import highly relevant content from NetSuite and drive real-time collaboration around it.”
Also this week, NetSuite announced deeper integration with Google Apps and the Google Apps Marketplace. The partnership includes contextual integration between the main components of NetSuite and Gmail and Google Calendar for improved productivity in the cloud. Also, Google Calendar and the calendar in the NetSuite OpenAir professional services automation (PSA) and services resource planning (SRP) solution are now fully synchronized. The Google Apps integration was done in conjunction with SuiteCloud Developer Network (SDN) partner Celigo.
